About the ASU Art Museum Legacy Fund
ASU Art Museum in conjunction with the ASU Foundation have established a dedicated fund for artwork and personal property donations such as jewelry, antiques and other objects of value. Our team works with collectors, donors, estates and fiduciaries to simplify the process of donating personal property to support the Museum’s mission.
Property donated to the ASU Art Museum Legacy fund is converted into a charitable gift that will provide critical funding to the Museum and support its commitment to the exchange of new ideas, perspectives and experiences among artists, students and the public through exhibitions, residencies, collections and programs.
ASU Art Museum Legacy Fund donors will have their gifts commemorated with their name listed in donor signage in the Museum, online and relevant collateral materials. In addition, a percentage of the yearly donations will support the acquisition of new artworks to the collection, with recognition of Legacy Fund donors.
Please send an email indicating your intention to offer personal property to the ASU Art Museum Legacy Fund along with a reproduction of the object(s) and detailed object information (artist/maker, date, dimensions, etc.). Individual images, group shots of larger collections and previous appraisals are helpful to send if available.
Please address your email to: Senior Curator, ASU Art Museum, Alana.Hernandez@asu.edu. Upon receipt, a representative from the ASU Art Museum and ASU Foundation will contact you within a few weeks with additional information and next steps.

Are Appraisals Required for Artwork and Personal Property Donations?
If you expect your gift to be valued at more than $5,000, the IRS requires you to obtain a qualified appraisal and provides procedures for taxpayers to request a review of art valuations for income, estate, and gift returns. You must submit an appraisal from a qualified independent appraiser and the appraisal must meet IRS substantiation requirements. This statement can then be used in completing your tax return. It is helpful to also send appraisals to the Museum. Please note that the ASU Art Museum does not provide appraisals for art of any kind or any purpose.
Arte para todos. Art for all.
