Community of Practice
ASU Art Museum Community of Practice
The ASU Art Museum is committed to asking critical questions about how art is interpreted in museum settings, how research is defined and performed, and what kinds of knowledge and creativity is considered valuable. Essential to all exhibitions, programs, collections and visitor services decisions, is the collaboration with a community of practice–comprising elders, activists, scholars and artists–that lends important cultural perspectives throughout the development of the exhibition and related programs and holds our work accountable to those who have traditionally been harmed by cultural institutions. Our community of practice disrupts the prioritization of academic expertise and uplifts more expansive notions of knowledge and cultural competencies. (See Bios Below)
