Exhibition
Visual Melodies is an orchestra of images with violins, pianos, horns and drums playing a silent melody for all to see. Music is part of everyone’s life. From rock to classical, music inspires artists to capture its visual essence. The ASU Art Museum partnered with the School of Music and ArtsWork in creating free, hands-on activities in the gallery.
Target Family Fun Day
On Target Family Fun Day, there are free hands-on activities, free performances and Eight, Arizona PBS, brings “Arthur” for photos with children. A children’s music-themed literacy workshop is presented, and each child receives a free book.
ASU Art Museum Presentation
Organized by ASU Art Museum Print Collection Manager Jean Makin, Curator of Education Laura Stewart, Windgate Curatorial Intern Andrea Feller, School of Music Professor Sandra Stauffer, and doctorial student Michelle McConkey, Visual Melodies will be installed in the Kresge Gallery, ASU Art Museum’s Nelson Fine Arts Center at Arizona State University, Tempe.
Duration
Visual Melodies: Selections from the Permanent Collection (June 2 – August 28, 2007) is open at the ASU Art Museum: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer. During the academic year, Tuesday hours extend, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
