Turned Wood Now: Redefining the Lathe-Turned Object IV features work by ten contemporary American Artists who are making significant contributions to the field of lathe turning. The selected artists use the lathe to create traditional vessel forms and sculptural objects that are sometimes defined by the process and materials, and sometimes freed from these origins by visual appearance and theoretical underpinnings.
This exhibition represents a significant advancement in scale and importance for the ASU Art Museum’s programming in this area, as well as a major contribution to the scholarship of contemporary American art and craft. This project is the fourth in a series of lathe turned object exhibitions and conferences. This exhibition was organized by Senior Curator Heather Lineberry.
