Pipilotti Rist: Sip My Ocean and other videos
Lulling the viewer with song and visual, Pipilotti Rist creates a sensual lure of pleasure with her video installation Sip My Ocean. Beautiful underwater ocean shots, peaceful submerging figures, and objects slowing floating down the projected image seduce the viewer’s eyes as Rist’s version of Chris Isaak’s pop song “Wicked Game” soothes the ears. But sometimes paradise, love and desire may not be all that they promise.
Also being presented are Rist’s videos I’m Not the Girl Who Misses Much and Pickelporno, providing a brief overview of her work from 1986 through 1996.

About the Artist
Pipilotti Rist was born in Rheintal, Switzerland. She studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Vienna and the School of Design in Basel. Her work was exhibited at the Louisiana Museum for Modern Art and Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago in 1996; Venice Biennial, Kwangju Biennial, SITE Santa Fe and Kunsthalle, Vienna in 1997; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Kunstwerke Berlin in 1998; Museum Ludwig and Musee d’Art Moderne de la Vile de Paris in 1999; ZKM Karlsruhe, Hirshhorn Museum, Istanbul Biennial and Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo in 2000; Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst and Luhring Augustine in 2001.

Season Opening Reception
On Friday, September 20, the ASU Art Museum will present receptions fo r Mark Klett: Ideas About Time, Subjectivity: Photographs of Themselves, Embracing Night: New Ceramics by Farraday Newsome Sredl, and The Aftermath, (911): Photogrpahs by Janis Lewin from 7 – 9pm at the Arizona State University Art Museum’s Nelson Fine Arts Center location and Ceramics Research Center.

Organized by John D. Spiak, Pipilotti Rist: Sip My Ocean and other videos will be installed in the Kresege Gallery of the Arizona State University Art Museum’s Nelson Fine Arts Center location.
Duration
Pipilotti Rist: Sip My Ocean and other videos (August 31 – October 27, 2002) is open Tuesday from 10am – 9pm, Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.
