Join artist-educator Anh-Thuy Nguyen at the ASU Art Museum’s Ceramics Research Center for an interactive artist talk and community workshop exploring rice as culture, memory and resilience. Participants will sculpt grains of rice from clay while Anh-Thuy leads conversations on rice farming, forced migration and family stories. No experience necessary and all materials are provided. Finished fired pieces will be utilized by Anh-Thuy in her exhibition. Participants can pick up or request a mailing of a grain of ceramic rice after the firing
This workshop accompanies Anh-Thuy Nguyen’s solo exhibition “Rice is Mẹ” on view at the Chandler Center for the Arts from November 15, 2025 – February 7, 2026.
