“Cross Check: William Wegman and Jacob Trouba,” brings together the distinct practices of artist William Wegman and professional hockey player turned artist Jacob Trouba. “Cross Check: William Wegman and Jacob Trouba” explores movement as a form of artistic production, translation, and collaboration. Rooted in the shared language of hockey, the exhibition examines the body as both subject and medium through a series of collaborative works presented publicly for the first time. Drawing on his experience as an athlete, Trouba covers himself in ink while wearing hockey gear and propels himself across the canvas, leaving behind marks that record speed, force, and impact. Wegman responds by translating those gestures into paintings that reinterpret the movement at an intimate scale, creating an ongoing dialogue between action and reflection.
