Jim Campbell has pioneered the use of electronic media for installations and sculptures that react to the visitor. Campbell’s works utilize the appeal and capacities of electronic media to enhance the contemplation of human experience-memory, recollection, hallucination and the passage of time. The exhibition features two new installations made on campus, as well as works from throughout the 1990s.

In conjunction with the “Jim Campbell: Transforming Time, Electronic Works 1990-1999” exhibition, the ASU Art Museum is co-sponsoring a symposium on current issues in artworks and performance that utilize new technology. Co-sponsors of the event include the Phoenix Arts Commission, ASU Institute for Studies in the Arts, ASU Partnership for Research in Stereo Modeling(PRISM), Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, and Business Volunteers for the Arts.
