In partnership with the ASU Art Museum, the Medical Humanities Subcommittee for ASU’s School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering, and the College of Health Solutions Maternal & Child Health Translational Team, the Health Policy and Equity Network (HPEN) in the College of Health Solutions invites University faculty, staff, students and community members to an interdisciplinary panel discussion about the experience of becoming a mother in the United States today. Experts on the panel from public health, law, and the humanities will discuss how maternal healthcare and health policy interact with cultural conceptions of motherhood. Afterward, guests are invited to join a Museum curator for a tour to experience the art exhibition “Notes on Motherhood”, which explores the themes of social, emotional, economic, and political dimensions of contemporary mothering by multiple artists and through a variety of media.
