SUMMARY:2025 fall exhibition opening reception
DESCRIPTION:This fall\, the ASU Art Museum will open two timely exhibitions that explore how we navigate the world. “Tierras Reimaginadas: Migration” reimagines migration as a natural\, spiritual and emotional experience shared across species and generations. Drawing from the museum’s collection\, the exhibition invites reflection on the movement of people\, plants\, animals and ideas as a force that reshapes land\, identity and belonging.“Michelangelo Lovelace: Art Saved My Life” is a retrospective exhibition. Lovelace\, who often spoke about his life and career as an artist through a vivid and layered lens\, chose to paint in an intentionally simplified manner because it allowed him to show what he called “the raw power of life in the inner cities of America.” Together\, these exhibitions provide a thought-provoking exploration of resilience\, community and the various ways art helps us navigate today’s ever-evolving world. \nSaturday\, September 13\, 2025\n5–7 p.m.\nASU Art Museum\n \nRSVP to save your spot! \n

SUMMARY:Language of the Four Directions: East
DESCRIPTION:Join the ASU Art Museum and Chris Hoshnic at a poetry workshop this fall!  \nLanguage of the Four Directions is a multi-site ekphrasis poetry workshop series rooted in Diné philosophy\, exploring how place\, community\, and direction influence creative expression. \nThrough this series\, we will activate the same artwork across five different locations\, engaging with it through writing\, storytelling\, and shared reflection to understand how each “area’s language” uniquely responds to the piece. \nEach workshop will center on a single shared image or artwork\, used as an anchor across time and space. Drawing from Diné’s four directional teachings — East (Ha’a’aah)\, South (Shádi’ááh)\, West (E’e’aah)\, and North (Náhookǫs) — we will consider how landscape\, positionality\, and community shape our interpretation and voice. \nSaturday\, September 14\, 2025\n3–5 p.m.\nASU Art Museum\n \nRSVP to save your spot! \n
