DESCRIPTION:Akio Takamori Public Lecture\nFriday\, October 7\, 7 p.m.\nNeeb Hall \nAkio Takamori Ceramic Demonstration\nSaturday\, October 8\, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.\nCeramics Studio at the Mesa Arts Center \nMembers and Invited Guests Reception\nSaturday\, October 8\, 7-9 p.m.\nASU Art Museum \nBetween Clouds of Memory: Akio Takamori\, A Mid-Career Survey\nThe Arizona State University Art Museum’s Ceramics Research Center is organizing the first major mid-career survey exhibition on the ceramic art of Japanese-born artist Akio Takamori\, currently residing in Seattle\, Washington. This hallmark exhibition\, spanning thirty years of creative excellence\, is comprised of forty-eight sculptures and nine prints and drawings drawn from the Museum’s collection\, as well as private and public collections nationwide. A 156-page hardcover catalogue assesses the talents of this renowned artist. \nAbout the Artist \nMr. Takamori studied at Kansas City Art Institute receiving his B.F.A. in 1976. He received his M.F.A. from New York State College of Ceramics\, Alfred University in 1978. His work is represented in many public collections including Carnegie Institute Art Museum\, Los Angeles County Museum\, American Craft Museum\, Victoria & Albert Museum\, and Taipei Fine Arts Museum. He was awarded National Endowment for the Art grants in 1986\,1988 and 1992. Akio Takamori is Associate Professor of Art in the Ceramics Department at the University of Washington. He lives in Seattle\, Washington where he has a studio. \nASU Art Museum Presentation\nOrganized by Peter Held\, Between Clouds of Memory: Akio Takamori\, A Mid-Career Surveywill be installed in the Arizona State University Art Museum’s Nelson Fine Arts Center location. \nDuration\nBetween Clouds of Memory: Akio Takamori\, A Mid-Career Survey (September 9\, 2005 through January 14\, 2006) is open at the ASU Art Museum: Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.\, and Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. \nSupport \nFunders of this project include: E.
